Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to bring my own guitar?
We would encourage every student to have their own instrument. However we can arrange a limited number of rental guitars for students.
This arrangement works seamlessly alongside the main lessons and will involve a nominal additional fee.
Am I too old (or too young) to learn?
We firmly believe that there is no maximum age to start enjoying the guitar, and we highly encourage students to begin their journey as early as possible.
That said, if you have arthritis, carpal tunnel, or any other hand or wrist issues, it’s important to address these concerns as they may affect your ability to form chord shapes. We recommend consulting a medical professional for guidance.
For younger students, a smaller guitar may be necessary, and these guitars are available in 1/2 and 3/4 sizes. However, from around the age of 10, most players can confidently play a full-sized acoustic guitar.
Some players may prefer ‘ladies guitars’ or ‘parlour guitars,’ which are 7/8 the size of a full-sized guitar, and there’s no doubt they can be a fantastic choice.
What is covered by the course?
This beginner course is designed for people with zero experience. It covers;
- Instrument Care and Maintainance
- Basic Chords – common major, minor, and 7th
- Rhythms – 4 on the Floor, Trainbeats, Reggaebeats etc.
- Time Signatures – 4 4 and 6 8
- Dynamics, Mutes and Accents
- 11 popular songs across a number of genres
All of which are carefully picked to give each student a solid starting point for their musical journey.
How often do I need to practice?
Practice is an incredible journey. This is where breakthroughs occur and progress is made.
We want to encourage you to engage in short practice sessions as frequently as possible.
Twenty minutes a day, six days a week is optimal, with one group lesson on the seventh day. Remember, everyone’s schedule is unique, but we emphasise that two 15-minute practices spaced a few days apart will be far more effective than a single 50-minute session once a week.
Finding 20 minutes a day, four to five days a week will make the course not only manageable but also rewarding for you.
How much does it cost?
The entire course is €360 for the 12 weeks. Early sign-ups can avail of a discounted rate of €300.
Deposit secures position.
Balance to be paid before first lesson. Financing options are available including weekly / monthly payments before the start of the semester.
